The Panton chair

The sleek and sexy Panton chair is still as innovative and contemporary today as it was when it was originally designed 50 years ago. Created by the famous Danish designer Verner Panton it has become one of the most iconic pieces of 20th century design.

Originally designed in 1959 in fibreglass, it only went into mass production through a collaboration with Vitra in 1967. The chair was relaunched in 1999 made from a “dyed through” polypropylene which finally fulfilled Panton’s goal - to create an inexpensive industrially produced design piece. The cool cantilevered chair is now also produced in a child-size version - the adorable Pantone Junior – and is available in a range of zingy colours.
