Flickr real life homes: Katrin’s charming Vienna home |
|||
|
Katrin is fortunate to live in Vienna (Austria) one of the most beautiful cities in the world for me, where she shares a one bedroom 1950’s apartment with her husband and two cats. Her home is delightfully charming and so neatly organized you cannot tell that it is only 60 sq m (650 sq ft) in area. You will find a lot of Ikea or Habitat pieces in her home but the most cherished are the ones that come with a story, like the two blue kitchen chairs bought off Ebay for 50 Cents each or the chest of drawers in the living room which was a gift from Katrin’s mother: “we always find a place for it no matter where we live” she proudly tells me. She draws inspiration for her home décor from three main sources: design blogs, the Flickr community and interior décor magazines. Katrin is also an accomplished painter and happily takes over the brushes and rolls commanding the colour changes around the house: “I think there are some walls in our house that I have painted in 4 different colors by now” says Katrin. The stencil she painted on her kitchen wall is just brilliant! It looks so good I initially mistook it for wallpaper. It’s favourite time and after twenty one beautiful homes it does not get any easier The winners are: the large gray sofa with the red trims in her office, the Etsy sourced art above the chest of drawers in the living room and the adorable kitchen. Make sure you stop by her Flickr set for more beautiful pictures of her home. You can also take a peek at the blog she recently started called Taking Notes.
