jailhouse stripes

The trend I’ve picked up on and can’t get enough of at the moment is what I call “jailhouse stripes”. Black and white is an old time classic but when combined in a striped pattern it lends itself to many bold and glam combinations.

The black and white stripes are very versatile and can be used to fix certain décor challenges; when used vertically on a wall they create the illusion of increased height, or if used horizontally they widen a narrow space. You can also use it in accent pieces such as cushions, curtains or rugs. Fuchsia, turquoise and mimosa yellow work beautifully with this pattern. What’s your favourite? Send me some examples if you wish.

Perfect stripe round-up. Striped cubby-hole is such fun!

Have you noticed how it does the trick? It gives you the illusion of a much wider space.

I just bought a great black and white jailhouse striped rug from Rugs USA. It's fashionable, affordable, and looks great in my living room!
