Flickr real life homes: Marga's home - eclectic and understated charm

Marga (short for Margarita) is one of the wonderful and talented “home owners” I have been fortunate to discover through Flickr. She was born in the warm and sunny Spain but currently lives and works in the not so warm or sunny London. Marga whose background is in graphic design, created a range of beautiful bags, tea towels and pillows, made from organic materials, which are available through Chocolate Creative.

According to Marga her home is “very simple and down to earth, nothing in here is particularly expensive or special, with the exception of an original mid-century lamp and a gorgeous French antique guild mirror”. I am sorry Marga but I beg to differ with you on that - what makes your home very special is its understated charm and the natural organic feel. :)

Like in many homes she sees hers as a work in progress – “again and again I move furniture around and add new interesting finds from my trips to the markets (...) it changes with the times and it is a reflection of the people that live in it”. Marga regards her home as a sanctuary where she lives, works and entertains, a place where she feels happy.

The eclectic look comes from a collection of pieces she was given, bought at flea markets and thrift shops or found on the street, like the fabulous vintage cherry Chesterfield sofa in the living room, that came from a second hand shop in her area. She literally found it on the street on her way to the supermarket, negotiated a bargain price with the previous owner and sat on it until she figured out a way to take it home.

If you get the chance stop by her blog and check her full home set in Flickr.
