I am very excited about the March edition – sounds like my blog has become a magazine :) - dedicated to real life homes of people across the world who have chosen Flickr to display their beautiful homes.

I have not intended for each home feature to be a comprehensive room by room tour, instead my goal was to allow you to take a glimpse at the style, some details and take in fresh decorating ideas.

I was very fortunate to find in Flickr an incredible source of fabulous homes, each decorated in a very individual style. However, I must admit I was faced with a couple of challenges:

1. How could I possibly choose only 31 homes (one per day throughout the month of March) out of the 100+ I had found?
2. Once these were chosen, how could I dictate the posting schedule.  What would be the fair criteria?

I did manage to overcome both challenges, by selecting the first 31 that accepted to be featured and having a little lottery to dictate the posting calendar.

It was interesting to learn about the favourite pieces, the different sources of inspiration and the level of DIY skills from each home owner. The majority indicated blogs and Flickr groups as their main inspiration source along with the more traditional sources such as magazines, books and TV programmes. Organization and storage were also key concerns. Thrift stores, Craigslist, yard sales and hand-me-downs were a popular way of acquiring furniture and decorating items for their homes. I also found it very interesting that the majority of home owners consider that their homes are a work in progress, always evolving and being edited.

I will be posting a real life home from Flickr a day for the entire month of March, the first one will be up this afternoon, so stay tuned.

I hope you enjoy this monthly special as much as I loved putting it together.
